Maintaining suspension systems and good tires is vital to ensure the safety of vehicles in circulation. It is important that you consider the following aspects for the proper maintenance of these systems analyzed.
Basic Tire Maintenance:
The legal minimum is 1.6mm drawing. It is advisable to change the tire with less than 3mm depth. There are witnesses wear references. A greater wear, increased stopping distance, increased risk of aquaplaning.
– Correct tire pressure.
It is advisable to measure pressure with a digital pressure gauge. The correct pressure should be consulted in the vehicle manual. The measurement should be done with cold tire and vehicle load must be taken into account to adjust pressure.
Recommendations and safe behavior for tires:
-Maintain pressure according the manufacturer’s specifications.
-Discard excessively worn tires, information respecting the wear indicators.
-Periodically review the uneven tire wear, especially directional. Uneven wear can be caused by inadequate pressure (the two outer edges of the tread, or center) or incorrect wheel alignment (wear one edge of the tread). Also the poor state of the suspension can lead to irregular wear.
-Check the pressure regularly every 15 days. Check should be done with a properly calibrated gauge quality, preferably for own use. Quite a few gauges stations on the route provided falsified data.
-Make checking pressure when the tire is cold, that is, before we started shooting.
-Check for leaks of air through the valve. The valve plug is a sealing element, so its use is essential.
-Not exceed the limits of speed and load set by the car manufacturer or the manufacturer of the tire, since the speed and overload also influence warming.
-Do not forget to check the pressure of the spare wheel.
-Avoid mounting on the same axle tire brand or different specifications.
-Rotate the tires as they will wear differences observed between the rear axle and front. No diagonal tires rotate as the rotation direction to be reversed causing the supported opposite far voltages, which can cause a rapid deterioration of the tire.
-Visual and periodically review the state of the tires, the interior also part, to detect dangerous operation.
-Avoid rubbing or hitting curbs or other obstacles. Can cause internal damage that not visible. If a hernia on the flank should be replaced as soon as possible.
-Tires age. Over time, the rubber hardens and loses its original properties of elasticity and adhesion, so although the tread should have spent not change between four and six years.
-To check the tire pressure must bear in mind the following tips:
> Consult the technical specifications of the vehicle and tire.
> Check the tire pressure with cold, which means rolling less than 3 Km. at low speed.
Check pressure gauges which can be found usually in:
– The manual of the vehicle.
– The frame of the driver’s door.
– In the glove box door.
– The inside of the gas cap.
– Ensure the correct state pressure gauge.
– Check the pressure every 2,000 kilometers, a month or before a long journey.
– Always place the valve plug, essential to ensure hermetical tire.
– Also check the pressure of the spare wheel, which must be equal to the higher pressure than recommended.
